Definition: Usually refers to Valve Software, a company responsible for designing games such as Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Portal and Left4Dead, but also for Steam, a digital distribution platform that allows gamers to buy and download games online.
Usage: Valve might finish Half-Life 2: Episode 3 before 2015, but I am not holding my breath.
