Optical Drive Definition: The device you put an optical disk into. Refers to any medium that commonly uses a laser to read a disk, hence the "optical" moniker. Can read, and possibly write, to aforementioned "disk" Usually tray-loading (Where a tray you set the disk on extends and retracts) but can be slot-loading, or less commonly, caddy loading (where you put the disk into a cartridge that is then loaded into the device.
