IDE

Definition: Integrated Drive Electronics (also Integrated Device Electronics), specifically referring to Hard Drive Controllers. Prior to IDE, Hard Disks and their controllers were separate. IDE helped reduce the complications involved in both installing and maintaining Hard Drives by integrating the components of the Hard Drive and its' controller into a simple, single package.
Usage: I picked up a new IDE hard drive for my RAID array.
