hyperlink

Definition: Originally more richly implemented by Douglas Engelbart in the 60s, and today used as "mere unidirectional links" between texts on the Internet, this clickable entity is a nail in the eye of rabble-rouser Ted Nelson, currently developing multidimensional databases (hyperdatabases?!?) decades after the fact as usual.
Usage: I marked a word, clicked the link icon and entered a URL, and magically it became a hyperlink instead of a link!
