Hard Drive Definition: Hard Drive is the storage device. There are several types of Hard Drives - SATA , IDE , SCSI and SAS - (Those abbreviation represent the variety of interfaces, speeds and setups for Hard Drives). However, Hard Drives come in different shapes and sizes, standard drives are 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch (thickness). 2.5 inch Drives are used primarily in laptops, excluding the new velocity raptor that used for desktops. 3.5 inch Drives used for desktops, servers etc. (anywhere where space permits). Laptop drives, 2.5 inch, has the storage of maximum main stream 500 Gb. Desktop drives, 3.5 inch, has the storage of maximum main stream 2 Tb. Hard Drives consist, but not limited, of magnetic disks aka platters, needle, electrical motor. However, there are drives which called Solid State Drive, those drives are build without moving parts and operate differently from magnetic platter based Hard Drives but share the physical size, unfortunately not the capacity and price range per Gb. To find more about hard Drive software/hardware configurations look up RAID. Usage: I picked up 3 hard drives with 1 terabyte each and set them up in a RAID 5 configuration, now i don't worry about my server going down. Posted by RussVass on June 1, 2009 at 19:45:38 Pacific |
Hard Drive Definition: n. A magnetic pornography storage device, used in computers. It uses a metallic disk which spins under an armature, which can alter and read the magnetic state of molecules on the disk surface - storing and retrieving pornography, respectively. By utilizing a RAID setup, one can chain multiple hard drives together with varying positive effects with regard to the amount of pornography you can store, the speed at which you can store and retrieve pornography, and the data integrity of your pornography. Usage: Do you guys carry hard drives? I'm running out of space to store all of my pornography. Posted by taintsauce on July 23, 2009 at 11:33:40 Pacific |
Hard Drive Definition: A hard drive is where your data is stored. The hard drive is the primary storage device for a computer. Hard disks are the actual disks inside the drive. The data remains on the drive magnetically even when the power supply is not switched on. Usage: There are hard drives in many electronic devices such as printers, digital music players, desktop computers and laptops. Posted by Radix-64 on March 25, 2009 at 08:45:02 Pacific |
