Definition: In the term "Frames per Second" (FPS), a frame refers to one still image displayed. A computer screen which operates at a refresh rate of 60Hz is capable of showing 60 individual frames per second.
Usage: My computer can play the latest game at 75 FRAMES per second, meaning it is showing 75 different images every second.
