Core 2 Definition: a line of processors that debuted in mid 2006 that is still avaonlable to users, it has two lines below it, Core 2 Duo which is a processor with two cores in it and there's the Core 2 Quad a processor with 4 cores in it. this line of processors use the LGA 775 socket. The processor architecture is based on the Pentium 3 and 4 architecture. It has been succecced by the i7 line of processors that uses the LGA 1366 socket and the upcoming LGA 1156 socket.
