Commodore Definition: Commodore Business Machines was responsible for the birth of the personal computer of the 1970's and 1980's through its purchase of MOS Technologies and the licensing of the 6502 processor and it's related I/O chips that were used by most manufacturers such as Apple and Atari. Commodore also created and sold computers such as the PET 2000, VIC-20, Commodore 64/128, Amiga, Colt PC, and many more. Commodore went bankrupt in 1994 under the leadership of Mehdi Ali (also known as Little Brown Man) who was hired by Irving Gould to extract all cash worth from Commodore's operations before shutting down the company. Ali was very successful in his task. Usage: At over 22 million, the Commodore 64 has sold more units than any computer model in history. Posted by kingdurin on July 6, 2009 at 14:29:27 Pacific |
