8086 Definition: 8086 is a 16-bit microprocessor chip designed by Intel in 1978, and was the beginning of the x86 architecture. This was usually used to refer to the speed of a computer, 8086, 80186, 80286, 80386, 80486 and was usually referred to without the "80" such as a 486 computer.
